Love the book series. Plot follows typical Hamish Macbth story lines. Multiple murders, many involved characters and a quick resolution.

Another good story.
When this series ends I really hope Hamish and Priscilla get together.

Glacially slow. Macbeth travels for a page or two to interview a witness or suspect, and the result is, "No, I didn't see anything." Core village values also seem inconsistent: in a small village, everybody knows everybody's business, and one of the secrets the blackmailer knew was about an extramarital affair. But then, Macbeth and a woman who turns out to be engaged jump into bed, and the next morning jovially part ways without a thought. After investigating the case, one would have thought Macbeth as a permanent resident would at least have worried about eventually being found out and the gossip.

Beaton's books are all good reads. She makes us feel we are in pastoral Scotland, and we enjoy the quiet life of Hamish Macleod. The plot is a good one, but there are so many characters that I had to make a list to keep them straight.
